    FAQs

  • Q) Can I use standard “C” size alkaline batteries?
      A) No, the unit requires 4.8 volts to operate properly. Two “C” size batteries only supply 3 volts.
  • Q) How long will the batteries hold a charge when the unit is not in use?
      A) This depends on the age of the batteries. When new they will hold a charge for over 30 days. This time period progressively declines as the batteries age.
  • Q) How long will my batteries last before they need replacing?
      A) They will last through 500 cycles of being fully discharged and then recharged. This correlates to 2000 lifetime hours.
  • Q) Will it damage the batteries if I leave them on constant charge?
      A) No, as a matter of fact, the preferred method is to leave them on constant charge when they are not in use.
  • Q) Can I recondition batteries that have been left dormant for a long period of time?
      A) Yes, by performing these steps:
      • a) Fully charge the batteries.
      • b) Leave the unit on until the battery power light goes out.
      • c) Recharge them. Repeating this process 2 or 3 times will produce the best results.
