ADVANCED AS&R Training - Advanced Air Sealing and Retrofit of Existing Buildings
With millions of potential buildings slated for energy efficiency upgrades, building performance testing and retrofit of existing buildings is going to be a large market requiring a well trained and prepared workforce. There is an immediate need for building analysts, crew leaders, technicians, and qualified small business owners that can help implement and manage local projects. With a balance between each skill set and workforce, Americans from all backgrounds can benefit from what many are calling an unprecedented opportunity.
In partnership with building retrofit veterans and non-profit organizations, ECI has developed a hands-on course that demonstrates how to locate air leaks in residential buildings. Once identified, we show you what and where to seal, which materials to use, and how to best develop your services to meet demand.
During the 5-day hands-on course students are taught how to perform visual inspections and install high quality weatherization materials, such as polyurethane foam sealant and weather stripping. Students will use powerful hard panel blower doors, super-sensitive IR cameras, combustion and draft analyzers, and other equipment required to ensure that proper test-in and test-out protocols are met on each job.
Course is taught in our hands-on facilities specifically built to illustrate the benefits of air sealing. Don't be afraid to get a little messy - you will be working with drywall boxes (for lights), sealing attic penetrations, installing draft reduction products and more. Before and after examples of retrofits are used throughout training to help illustrate which methods work best.
To ensure success, it is HIGHLY recommended students attend one or more of the following courses prior to this course:
